When we look into the mirror, we see all the aspects of ourselves that we can experience with our five physical senses - what we look like, our body that we can touch, and the body that makes sounds, smells, and tastes.
Because we have been told that these five senses make us human, it has been easy to limit our perception of who we are (and others) to what we can see and touch, etc.
However, we are so much more.
Connecting to Our Heart
We’ve heard this a hundred times in spiritual teachings - that we must connect in with our hearts. In my book “What If You Could Skip the Cancer?” I teach about how we must listen to our hearts instead of our heads when we want to make decisions.
But what does this actually mean?
It means developing ANOTHER SENSE - beyond the five senses that we trust so well.
It means to FEEL into the heart.
Can you feel that this is an ability different from our physical senses?
To connect with our heart requires a different mechanism inside - an awareness, a subtle energetic connection.
What Do We “Feel” There?
An excellent question! 😉
If you sit right now, close your eyes, and breathe deeply into your heart, what do you feel?
Here are some possibilities:
Content
Anxious
Light and hopeful
Concerned
Excited
Wise
Quiet
These are just a few ideas. There may be an infinite number of things you could feel there.
Why are these helpful? Why are they important to tune into?
Because this is our soul’s current experience as we interact with our Earthly life. This is where we truly ARE. This is us checking in with our passengers to see how they’re doing.
This is our connection to our soul.
The Heart’s Abode
The heart beckons you now. It summons you to enter the temple of all wisdom, all space, and all time. ~ The Keepers of the Light Codes, Rhiannon Heins
In Hindu beliefs, Atman lives within the heart. Atman is our personal experience of God (or Brahman). Perhaps this is what we call our soul.
Our soul is our divine blueprint who perhaps takes on many different incarnations, bodies, and experiences over “time”.
So, when we feel/connect/listen to our heart, we are essentially connecting to the divine aspect of who we are.
It reminds me of a scene from the movie Dogma when the Metatron appears to one of the characters. The Metatron introduces himself as an angel who is the voice of God, saying that he is necessary because no human can withstand the deafening sound of the direct voice of God.
Is this partly what our soul does for us - lets us hear enough of the Divine so that we can make choices, but not so much that we are overwhelmed?
Our Time of Ascension
Many have been talking about how we are going through a time of ascension right now - including me… This definitely feels true to me.
But what does this mean, and what does it have to do with feeling the heart?
I feel that this is a time to develop ALL OF OUR ABILITIES AS HUMANS again. It is a time when we can expand beyond feeling trapped in the limited experience of the 3-dimensional world that we experience through our 5 senses.
As we experience other things beyond the physical, soon the dramas of the 3D don’t hold us in the spells that they did in past decades. Yes, there may be difficulties in the physical world, but we are able to sense more dimensions of these experiences and we can feel that there is much more going on than what we can see, hear, smell, taste, and touch.
We begin to KNOW THINGS IN OUR HEARTS. We know things through our intuition. We feel subtleties in the world around us that can feel dark, light, or something else that guides us to our next step.
Developing & Trusting this New “Sense”
But for now, we can connect with our hearts. We can develop this ability to feel within, to connect with the feelings there, to connect with the knowing there.
I would love to know what you feel there. What emotions do you sense? Do you receive guidance this way? Have you been developing this ability for a while?
How is it a part of your life and how you navigate this interesting world?
Hi Katrina - loved this post. I have been journeying in Tantra for not even three years but the greatest gift has been to help me discover the truth of what you say here. Yesterday I saw a friend who I met in a tantra workshop a year ago. The connection I have with her is at this deeper heart level of sensing the other - I feel her in a way that is deeper and beyond the conventional five senses. In fact I know very little about her beyond what we have shared in the few occasions when we have sat and talked over coffee. But I know her, I feel her heart and cannot explain why or how I am so sure of this. It is a magical connection that exists - all I have to do is let it be. I guess, but cannot know, that she feels something similar. Maybe I'm mad, but it is a beautiful place to be...
Thank you Katrina; it felt peaceful to do a quiet check-in with my heart..
