Hi there!
How do the winds move through your body? What if our awareness of how the wind flows through us can bring us to greater health and happiness?
I've been studying something called Karmamudra. It's an aspect of using sexuality in the spiritual path of Tibetan Buddhism. (The book I'm studying is called "Karmamudra: The Joy of Bliss" by Dr. Nadi Chenagtsung. If this interests you, I'm really enjoying it.)
Anyway, at one point, he was talking about how the Kamasutra fits into this spiritual path. He said that the practice of honing our lovemaking skills helped to align our inner winds, or loong (Tibetan for wind). He says that these winds must be healthy and flowing or else all kinds of illness, physical, emotional, and mental can arise.
There is a similar understanding in yoga - that disease begins in the pranic body... Hmmm...
So, here's an experiment for us. The next time you are on your mat doing yoga, instead of focusing on the physical body, imagine focusing on how the "wind" flows through you. This could be the breath coming in and out. But, even more, imagine that there is a breath flowing down your legs and arms, swirling in your mind and in your belly.
Imagine playing with this all day long, as we walk down the street, do the dishes, sit at our computer, and make dinner... Just play with this awareness whenever you think about it.
I'd love to know how this goes for you and what you experience!
